As is the modern way, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was buttressed by blockades of sand-filled sanitation trucks, patrolled by sniffer dogs and guarded by police.  Heavily armed police patrolled the parade route during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Security was greater and more intensive this year following a deadly truck attack in the city by an alleged terrorist on Halloween.

  1. I do not like the fact that armed protection is the modern way to hold a parade. So sad. And such a loss of freedom.

  4. …brings to remembrance what Al Hoenig (head of small private mental hospital where I interned for my master’s degree) said, it takes caring and nurturance and time to grow a plant from a seed, but it only takes a moment to destroy it. So, we must continue to be patient and caring….

  5. It certainly shows how the world has changed, and not for the better, but I’m glad the old way is still hanging on. It was great to see the parade go ahead, with protection if necessary.

  6. So very sad indeed. I keep dreaming things will turn around and this senseless violence will be a thing of the past. I do dream in Technicolor…
