A balloon showing Charlie Brown failing to fly a kite during the 91st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

As is the modern way, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was buttressed by blockades of sand-filled sanitation trucks, patrolled by sniffer dogs and guarded by police.  Heavily armed police patrolled the parade route during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Security was greater and more intensive this year following a deadly truck attack in the city by an alleged terrorist on Halloween.

How?

This morning it rained.
This afternoon it is sunny.
How is that not like the mind?

Red Balloons + Kindness =

Yes, it’s a commercial. But what is it with this time of the year, Red Balloons and a bit of kindness? You can’t help but be warmed by the faces in this ad…

30 years. And counting.

red-balloons-anniversary

30 years ago today.
On a steamy afternoon in Northern Michigan.
They were married.

Her Yin to His Yang.

The Beauty. Gentle, kind and forgiving.
The Beast, less so.

She, the passionate Extrovert,
seeking comfort in conversation and friendship.
He, in constant retreat to solitude.

She, the Mother, a nurturer. Their Friend.
He, the Father, the rules enforcer, the Driver.

She, steady, firmly anchored in high winds and heavy seas.
He, bringing it in bits and pieces,
but giving the best he had.

And despite the pull and tug of opposing forces,
the sweet music plays on.

Happy Anniversary Pal.

Here’s to 30 more.

Love,

Dave

89°F and got that Summer feeling…

I have been following David’s blog @ David R. Wetzel’s Photography.  In addition to being a “semi-professional photographer”, I learned that David is an author, a writer and a painter.  (Oh, if I could become a Master in just one of his exceptional talents.)  David was kind enough to let me share two of his paintings that grabbed my immediate attention.  While David currently resides in Alabama, he has managed to transport me to another place and time for a few minutes this evening.  I do have that Summer Feeling.
