Trampled By Turtles (TBT) is an American band from Duluth, Minnesota that was formed in 2003. The band’s inspirations include Bob Dylan,Neil Young, The Rolling Stones and Nirvana. Their fifth release, Palomino, maintained a position in the Top 10 on the Billboard bluegrass charts for 52 straight weeks. Their music has been featured in TV shows including Deadliest Catch and Squidbillies. Their newest album, Stars and Satellites, was released on April 10, 2012 and debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200 Chart and number 11 on the Alternative Chart. Where did you come up with your name?
Our mandolin player thought of it while we were trying to think of a name that didn’t sound like a bluegrass band. We kept coming up with terrible things. He threw that one out there as kind of a joke. We really needed a name because we already had a couple of shows booked, and we just said, “Fine. We don’t hate it.”
