Work-Out Inspiration: Keep your back straight with deep knee bends

Proper form for a deep knee bend:

  • (A)  Stand with your feet approximately shoulder width apart.
  • (B)  Look straight foreword and place both arms in front of you or behind your head.
  • (C)  Slowly and under complete control bend down until your hamstrings touch your calves.  Be sure to keep your back straight.
  • (D) Push off of your heels and drive yourself back up to the starting position.  Now flex your quads with all your might and repeat.
  • (E)  Wagging tail is entirely optional.

  1. Love this – admittedly because the video repeats, so I’m not watching this pup over-work his back legs (yes David, I am a wuss of the highest degree). His form is terrific.

  2. He’s a Border Collie–clearly he realizes that he Needs to keep those legs in “fighting form” for herding duties… ;-). Nice of his human to “coach” him through it….

    1. Didn’t know he was a border collie. Thanks for the insight. As to who is coaching who…that’s in question. Look how far down Billy the Bordie Collie is dipping vs. the human.

    1. “Have ‘I’ tried it yet.” Wait Kim, I need to pick myself off the floor and stop laughing. 1 deep knee bend and things would never work the same again. 🙂

      1. Just showed two of my kids this video and they made the point of showing me that the dog is only doing it once and then it is repeated. They thought it was pretty lame that i actually thought the dog was continually doing the squats…These kids today just want to spoil things for us parents 🙂
