CAPTAIN’S LOG.
Stardate: October 29, 2012. 7:53pm.
Winds howling.
Sandy not relenting.
Ship steady.
Intact.
No damage to Enterprise.
All men.
And beast accounted for.
No loss of life.
Or limb.
Lights flicker.
And out.
Internet whirls to a halt.
Apocalypse? A whisker away.
Darkness.
Look out Starport.
No visible planets with light.
Silence.
Candles lit.
Calm sets in.
Zeke nestled up tight.
Trick or treat?
When will there be light?

I would never believe New York could be shut down, and it has been.
Yes Sir. And this was not a direct hit. One could only imagine (or maybe not)….
Glad to hear the SS-Kanigan-Enterprise mad it through the Galactic barrier.
Hi Keith, thank you. It was a rough ride on Starship but we’re almost at warp speed sans power.
Take care all of you there, David! 🙂
Thanks Melkah, appreciate it.
Be safe, and stay dry. Hopefully full power will be restored to the Enterprise soon!
Laughing. Enterprise is still without power Jay but neighbor let us string a line. Thanks.
Probably the only circumstances in which I might consider nestling with a dog. Or any other pet. Fish excluded.
Thoughts and prayers are with you.
THIS IS SO FUNNY. Thanks for the kind thoughts LaDona.
Hunker down….
Sun is out. It’s a new day.
I’ve been watching safely from my lounge room on the Oz tv… we have a number of stations giving regular updates. A couple of stations had total coverage for a number of hours today, so we have a good appreciation of the conditions…
I love your attitude, David…. When you read this, SS Kanigan Enterprise will (hopefully) have seen the worst over….
Thank you Carolyn. SS Enterprise is hobbled without electrical current and hot water but we’ll manage. It’s like a snow day when we were kids. Seemingly less fun today. 🙂
Hopefully soon the monster will evaporate! I’d enjoy the dark silence, if I were you… I’m sure it won’t last very long and it’s pleasant -at least for a short while! I hope everyone’s safe and unharmed… [meteorologists here say that by Wednesday the latest, Sandy’s gonna be history]
Thanks Marina. Sun came out this morning and it’s as if nothing happened. All is safe here anyway.
Hope this are still ok with you, David. We seem to have escaped relatively unscathed (assuming we don’t get hit with any major additional winds this morning…) Take good care!!
I bet you escaped unscathed way up north. I would say we largely did too as it passed south. Yet, falling trees make high winds here a recipe for protracted power outages. And here we sit again, without power for the 4x in 2 years…:) And yes, it could be so much worse and it is for many unfortunates in the Tri-State area and the eastern seaboard. Glad you were spared.
We’re without power yet again. So glad the crew and Captain of the Starship are all safe.
Thank you Mimi. Is it possible that you can be without power again? What possessed you to return from Savannah?
We did lose power – but – it was restored by this afternoon. Given all the carnage from this awful storm, I’d say we got off easy..I’m grateful, really.
Good for you…
Hard to believe that weather has been worse in NY for you than Miami. Who would ever have thought that?
EXACTLY. 10 years in Miami and 1 bad storm. Here we are at 3 and counting
Luckily you had lots of practice in Miami 🙂 Glad to hear you and family are well.
Yes! Thanks Bim
