I went round the point and crossed the band of stony beach, climbed up onto the bare rock above and started walking along as the sky to the east blushed red, then, only seconds later, became gilded by the first rays of the sun, which for a moment remained unseen before pouring out over the edge of the world and throwing their light across the expanse of the sea. Aurora. It was no big deal: it had been going on every morning for four billion years. I laughed out loud.

When we look for the good… What an amazing world we live in! Outstanding photo Susan! 😊
I second Paul’s comment today, I can’t put it any better!
Thanks Laila.
Comment of the Day Paul. Thank you!
Thank you!
I think that our friend Writer Lori magically sent me the exact words for this comment. I put zero effort into writing those words… They just came. That might be the only “elegant/artistic” sentence I have ever written, lol 😊
Thank you for the kind feedback.
Just occurred to me… Isn’t Lori in Florida? I hope she’s OK…
She is. From what I understand, Lori evacuated far far away and home was spared.
Thanks so much for the update Dave.
Wonderful news.
There are so many who were not as fortunate. It’s heartbreaking.
It is Paul. And often those that can least afford it.
Thank you, Paul.
made me smile. Another blogger was disappointed because they saw nothing at all…. so you Susan were very lucky indeed. You took an amazing photo! Shall view more on ig.

You’re welcome!
Great image, interesting author profile.
Thank you! I love his writing.
I was in a zoom class with some Scots and English invitees just before this … the moon and northern lights light up in a magnificent red hue! It felt very uplifting and special… but since then no one seemed to acknowledge this wonderful nature’s offering. Thank you DK for capturing it from over here.
The world is becoming so self absorbed that these gifts from nature are ignored.
Thanks Val. Unfortunately I missed it but this was Susan’s capture and it is spectacular.
Stunning pic! I wish climate change would do something useful like bringing the aurora to the tropics!
So agree! Thank you!
We witnessed a stunning aurora borealis over the sea two days ago, displaying vibrant shades of red and green. The spectacle lasted for quite a while. When we were living in Arctic Finland, we saw the northern lights nearly every night during the winter.
Karl Ove Knausgård is one of our favourite contemporary authors. Thanks for quoting him.
We wish you a happy weekend
