Between the pick-up spot and the parking spot, the sun abandoned everything for one more day, the sea blackened, and the islands blackened even darker, more black than black, and the sky looked shocked and empty, as if not fully trusting that the moon would rise soon and her cohorts of stars crowd in like figures at a hajj.

I love it! – Happy weekend!
Thanks! You too!
Beautiful marriage of great writing and great photo 🌚
Dave, are you EVER sleeping? 12.01am pics should be forbidden (in your case… being out again in the morning before the morning!)
Thank you Kiki! Wally had to go out to poop. That is why I was up!!!!!
Oh well, that’s alright then… let’s blame it on wally 😉🙃
Can’t blame anything on little Wally. So cute.
I said so with a twinkling of my eye 😉. Of course he is….
🙂
I love Sebastian Barry! And the only thing that can do justice to his words, is a photo taken by you…(and don’t say ‘awwww’ – we have to save that for Wally, baby animals, baby animals with children, etc😉)
Awwww. Thanks Mimi. This is the first book of his that I have read. He’s amazing!
great shot and love the words on black
Thanks Beth. Me too!
Beautiful
Magic.
Gorgeous, all of it!
Thanks!
Perfect pairing.
Of course I love the photo…”and the sky looked shocked and empty”, those words jogged my memory to decades ago – I remember reading in the newspaper an account of a group of rafters in the Frank Church Wilderness, The River of No Return…(aka The Salmon) the Day turned into Night <<< they thought that a Nuclear Explosion had taken place…they had no clue what happened as they continued on the river for days<<< the light eventually returned…they found out that day turned into night due to the Massive Volcanic Eruption of Mt St Helens just barely outside of Portland, Oregon -though the location of Mt St Helens is in Washington state…on Sunday morning, May 18, 1980…I so remember that day , since I was living in Portland at the time and helping lay the pipe for a sprinkler system…
IE: "Salmon River is among the longest free-flowing rivers in the United States. On its 425 mile (684-kilometer) course from the Sawtooth Mountains through central Idaho, not one functioning dam impedes its flow."
I remember Mt St Helen’s event too as ash drifted that far north to us. Imcredible.
Like a parent who tosses a young child in the air and the child says: ‘Do it again, do it again”, until the parent is exhausted.
So too, as the sun rises each morning and the moon rises each night, we hear the same refrain: “Do it again, do it again”, without yielding for a moment, thankfully. For God in granting His good graces to us never gets exhausted.
Let us not take anything for granted.

So true! Thanks Alan.
