Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

Arrival this afternoon.  Name still pending.

  1. Benny?
  2. Walter / Wally (cousin of Sully)
  3. Bruce (for The Boss)?

Not exactly sure why, but I can’t get Do Wah Diddy Diddy out of my head:

There she he was just a-walkin’ down the street, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’Snappin’ her his fingers and shufflin’ her feet, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’She He looked good (Looked good)She He looked fine (Looked fine)She He looked good, she he looked fineAnd I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she he was walkin’ next to me, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’Holdin’ my hand just as natural as can be, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’We walked on (Walked on)To my door (My door)We walked on to my doorThen we kissed a little more
Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in loveYes, I didAnd so I told her all the thingsI’d been dreamin’ of
Now we’re together nearly every single day, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’A-we’re so happy, and that’s how we’re gonna stay, singin’‘Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do’
Well, I’m hers his (I’m hers his)She’s He’s mine (She’s He’s mine)

  2. Oh my goodness, I’m thinking just « Boss » would suffice. He is definitely going to rule with that amount of cuteness. 😍 Congratulations, David, I know you’ve being wanting a fur kid for a while. Enjoy!

  3. Dave – you have no idea how we have all been waiting for this to happen! So happy for you and Susan – he is a beautiful boy. Such adventures you will have with him”walkin’ by your side”. Mind the slippery rocks tho. I vote Bruce as well.

      1. I knew Sully was growing on you!!!!! the puppy is beautiful! I want one the next time. They’re perfect since they don’t require lots of walking since the can overheat. Or at least I think I read that while researching before we adopted out mutt.

  4. He has soulfully deep eyes – Mr Cutie eyes are melty…I can tell he will be more playful than most…I know he will Lead you around 🙂 as sweet pups do…another name for Leader is “Boss” <<< gets my vote…You need to be select in your choice…/// I say this, as one of our pups when I was teenager had an unusual name, which cause embarrassment to me and my beautiful sisters…he would get out of the yard or race out the front door when someone would be leaving…chasing him down the street (with a large park on the other side & also drivers with their windows down) hearing what we were – calling, calling out "Weirdo" elicited unwanted attention… (if you have any readers who might have grown up where I did, they would know who this, Christie is)

  5. OMG! Now you’re going to be taking pictures flat on your back for months of walks. Really happy for you (assuming you’ll avoid that). That darned Sully charmed you into it, didn’t he? This little guy is SO sweet. You’ve made the right decision. (Took ya long enuff.)
As for a name, just make sure it doesn’t rhyme with “No.” I know someone who named their dog Joe and it was a training disaster. “NO, Joe.” And every time he calls Joe’s name it sounds like a reprimand.
I like Benny. Wally is too low in tone and not as easily heard when you’re screaming for him to come back from the slippery rocks. Bruce is too serious, and also doesn’t lend itself to calling.
Speaking of which, a neighbour of mine had a dog also called Emma (like mine) so when we got our Emma we copied her alternate way of getting the dog to come. She did four quick hand claps and the sound carried without being as annoying as a whistle or a woman screaming the dog’s name. My Emma now comes to four hand claps and it’s an easy way to call her. Benny would be a nice name for your beautiful dog, but “This dog by any other name would be as sweet.”

      1. It really works for me, as I don’t have a loud voice, and it’s less intrusive on the neighbours to clap hands than to blow a whistle. Also, I might not have a whistle with me but I always have my hands with me. That is such a cute dog!!!

  6. I was telling the Captain about not naming the dog Joe and he said the one he knew had called his dog Beau. So it was constantly, “No, Beau, no.” Or if he called his dog, Beau thought he was always in trouble. (Did he say Beau or No?)

  9. I think he looks kind of like an “Oliver” or “Finn.” I agree that Bruce should be passed on because there’s an already famous “Bruce” on the internet…but it’s a doberman. Have you seen the page for Ruby the doberman? She’s a super famous pup and she died not too long ago. The new pup in the household is named Bruce. Have fun with this adorable little guy.

  10. Aaawh, it’s such fun to read your blog backwards! (Or sometimes disturbing when I don’t get developments).
I’m SO glad Susan and you got a new puppy. You needed that!
    Congratulations 🎊
