Lightly Child, Lightly

This day of mine
was lost
like all the other days,
half of it thinking of yesterday,
half of it thinking of tomorrow.

Abbas Kiarostami, A Wolf Lying in Wait: Selected Poems, (tr. by Karim Emami & Michael Beard)

Notes:

  • Portrait of Abbas Kiarostami in Cinematheque
  • Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”

  5. There’s a lot of truth in that. Don’t we often do that, reminisce and daydream, future and past, losing the “now.” Oh well, tomorrow we can reminisce about how we lost today.
