Let us taste the Strawberry Moon

  • Photo: DK of Strawberry Moon. 100% illumination. #1 – 1:43 a.m. from backyard in Darien. #2: 4:27 a.m. Cove Island Park.  And then on cue, pink sky rolled in at 5:19 am @ Cove Island Park.  More on background of Strawberry Moon here. Thank you Christie for the heads up on tonight’s moon show.  (And keeping me up at this ungodly hour!)
  • Post Title from Poem by Lorna: “Let us taste the Strawberry Moon / Wrap us in the light of / The pink dawn-at-night moon / Let’s pretend that June’s perfection / Never ends / That the strawberries and cream of June / Will serve to mend / And to our troubled thoughts / A peace lend.

Photo: DK of Strawberry Moon — “What does a Strawberry Moon mean? … June’s full moon is commonly known as the strawberry moon, a name that comes from the Algonquin Native American tribe in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada and refers to the region’s strawberry harvesting season (not the moon’s actual hue).” – Wikipedia!!

Such fabulous photos!!! Esp. love the pink in photo #3…I was up until almost 2am my time -hoping that the cloud cover would part no luck of course I was looking out my windows -usually I’d go outside but dear hubby was sleeping and I heard noises outside and it was cold, too. So I also had a lousy nights sleep -Thank you so much for staying up to bless all of us!!! Hope you can squeeze in a nap, today…I know that Susan will give you extra TLC, today…///Surprisingly with all of our cold and rain -we’ve been able to eat organic strawberries from our garden!!! The dear hubby and dear daughter -are continually replanting as the beans and other seeds can’t handle the rain & temps, to sprout… tomatoes are fine nice and tall…they were raised on hot pads in the small greenhouses then moved to the big greenhouse…We are eating salad fixings (lettuce, onions, radishes…etc) herbs, rhubarb and peas too!!! PS did you see all the rain that hit Yellowstone NP ? Horrible devastation…that was the remnants of our storms…

  8. Beautiful pics! The moon has fascinated people for eons, and yet if we were up there, we would probably find it quite boring, except for looking down at the earth. (And it might be fun bouncing around up there with so little gravity, but we’d soon get tired of that too. You’d have to build high-ceilinged rooms if you lived there, or you’d break your neck bouncing into the ceiling.)
