At home or afield, that is where amazement resides, shunning explanation… Intoxication with color, sometimes subliminal, often fierce, may express itself as a profound attachment to landscape. It has been rightly said: Color is the first principle of Place…

          Each of us possesses five fundamental, enthralling maps to the natural world: sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell. As we unravel the threads that bind us to nature, as denizens of data and artifice, amid crowds and clutter, we become miserly with these loyal and exquisite guides, we numb our sensory intelligence. This failure of attention will make orphans of us all.

          1. “Color is the first principle of Place.” I had never thought of it this way, but it is *so* true. When I think of Illinois where I grew up, the first thing that springs to mind is green…acre upon acre of seed corn and soybeans waving softly in the breeze. Vacation = the deep blue-green of Caribbean waters. Australia is RED…that clay earth that has rested there for centuries. And so it goes. Fascinating….

    As I’ve been been reading your blog content I’ve often thought of people who are missing out on the wisdom, care, joy, humor and beauty of your content.
    One of several reasons I haven’t been online often of late… is that being diabetic a person’s eyes can become damaged due to high blood sugar…so later this month I have yet another eye check up…to see what will happen from that point forward. I also see my regular doctor for diabetes re check this week…I’m hopeful and I know that I can make a difference with maintaining my blood sugar better…

    You’ve had content that’s mentioned eyes Tatyana Tolstayua for one and content my I think Ted Kosner? I’ve included below encounters with people seeing color for the first time, ever!!! Through technology starting just this spring a world of color has opened up to many and I just hope that they see Sunrises in Person and see some of your Beautiful Sunrise Photos!!!
