- “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr. Strength to Love and seems to have been said originally in a 1957 sermon he gave on loving your enemies.

yes
A wise and brave man. Don’t know how he found the strength to keep pushing back against that darkness as he did.
Thought exactly the same thing. Not sure I could have combatted that dark with light & love or even 10% of it.
Precisely. When I witness the lunacy around me, I want to throttle someone. I’m afraid my grace isn’t as voluminous as MLK’s. Not by a long shot.
Lori, we are kin in this line of thinking.
I’ve thought a lot about your post yesterday DK. Your walks and your photography have helped you heal, look outside yourself in different ways and wonder. I wonder if you know how much light you have brought to folks here…it would be fun to know how broad an area “here” is. There is a very different energy and structure in the efforts to sustain rather than build and that’s what happening now. It’s good you see it and you’ll figure it out. I’m happy to be on the bench with you whenever you come by…and grateful. You are always good company.

Thank you Mary Ann. I think you are squarely on point on my healing. Took me a while to see and feel this, but I’m beginning…long turn on this corner. Thank you for sharing your kind thoughts.
We need to hear his words form on high a lot more often by leaders today!
Boy, do we ever!
“Life’s most persistent question – what are you doing for others?” What a beacon of humanity he was.
He was….
He was the epitome of light. We just have to keep on shining ours, no matter how dim it seems.
no matter how dim, no matter how difficult.
Yes and yes!
An inspiration for us all.
Thanks Dave.
Yes Jean….Sure was.

HISTORY … how we do need you now, Sir?
This is great forever… Thank you, Love, nia
It is. Thanks Nia.
Such a beautiful human being…with others he inspired to be brave with him, such as John Lewis (on far right). How anyone can summon that degree of spirit and courage…surpasses what most of us can imagine.
So agree Valerie….
