Time to stand your ground…

Tom Petty, 66, was reportedly rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica hospital today after being found unconscious in his Malibu home. Various reports state that “he is clinging to life” after a heart attack.  On a long list of my Tom Petty favorites, “I Won’t Back Down” is my siren song.  Stand your ground one more time Tom.

Well, I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
No, I’ll stand my ground
Won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground

  1. Many reasons to begin to stand together and with collective strength stand our ground. From here on out we have no excuse for backing down….thoughts with Mr. Petty and all those needing support and courage to get through this day.

  3. Of course you know first hand how you and Tom would quiet Rachel down from her endless colic – Learning to Fly and Free Falling were her favorites….great memories.

  5. Timeless. My favorite was Mary Jane’s Last Dance. My last band played that and it was always a crowd favorite. RIP

  6. For me… it is “Free Fallin”. My late husband, Mick and my late friend, Brenda would sing it every time they got… ahhh… to feeling no pain. 😉 Brenda and Mick are now raising hell in the nether world – they might welcome Tom but we would like to keep him with us a tad longer…
