An olive ridley turtle lays her eggs in the sand at Rushikulya Beach, nearly 100 miles southwest of Bhubaneswar, on Thursday. Thousands of olive ridley sea turtles started to come ashore in the past few days from the Bay of Bengal to lay their eggs on the beach, which is one of the turtles’ three mass nesting sites in the Indian coastal state of Orissa. And don’t miss one of the 2017 Underwater photographs of the Year:
‘Green Turtles in the rays’ by Greg Lecoeur (France). “During a diving trip to Tenerife, I came across these green turtles. It was early morning and the sunbeams pierced the surface. I adjusted the setting of my camera and I waited for the turtles to come close enough to trigger my camera. After a little while, the turtles were circling around us and it was a great opportunity to photograph them.”

These creatures just ooze ‘ancient’ to me. They seem so steady, calm, dignified….

I’m all over that Einstein quote. Or it’s all over me. Like a blanket.
