Truth

“You know, some people say life is short and that you could get hit by a bus at any moment and that you have to live each day like it’s your last. Bullshit. Life is long. You’re probably not gonna get hit by a bus. And you’re gonna have to live with the choices you make for the next fifty years.”

  1. Let me start by saying that I LOVE Chris Rock.
By now you and your followers very well know the mouth on me. So, I’m sharing this family story.
One of the dearest men to my heart, my father in law passed away in 2010 at age 83.
At the time my mother in law was only 73.
They had been married for 55 years.
He wrote her a 3 to 5 line poem every morning and put it on her plate while I was setting the table for breakfast.

Two years after his death she still went to bed every night like it’s her last.
Then one night I had it. I mean she is one of the smartes, prettiest and strongest toughest women I ever met.
So, one night I said “Mama, you know you might be around for another 30, maybe 40 years. This is not a good way to start the next 30 to 40 years of your life.”

Esam and his older brother gave me the look of death behind her back. She just looked at me and said, “You’re absolutely right!”
She took a piece of cheese cake from my hand. And things just changed since then.

    🙂
