“While out hunting for the aurora borealis this December, astrophotographer Brett Abernethy captured this incredible meteor fireball streaking across the sky near Johnson Lake in Banff National Park, Canada.”

I can’t imagine how breathtaking this moment must have been – it’s magical even captured in a photo!
Yes, it was great to read his description:
“I was out chasing the Aurora early this morning in the Banff area with Brad Russel. I was lucky enough to have compose this shot of Rundle Mountain to the south and capture this massive fireball as well. Everything was lit up like daylight. At one point the fireball broke up into at least 3 fragments and faded away. It seemed very close and I was expecting to hear a noise to go along with it. I was very excited knowing that I was exposing a shot while it all occurred.”
Beautiful capture, this individual had to be lightning fast and well prepared to get such a shot.
No kidding. My mouth would be gaping and by the time I readied the camera, it would be gone.
Cannot begin to imagine the exhilaration this guy must have felt in experiencing this moment, let alone capturing it on film. Truly breathtaking….
