Mindi Abair, 44, was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She is an smooth jazz saxophonist. Mindi started playing the piano at age five, and started playing alto saxophone at the age of eight, when her elementary school band instructor laid out instruments on the first day of band class and instructed each student to pick the instrument they most wanted to play. Mindi has toured and/or recorded with the Backstreet Boys, Duran Duran, Mandy Moore, Josh Groban, Adam Sandler, Keb’ Mo’, Lalah Hathaway, Lee Ritenour, Teena Marie, John Tesh, Bobby Lyle, Jonathan Butler, Peter White and Rick Braun. She toured with Aerosmith in 2012. In 2003, Abair moved from pop to jazz. (Source: Wiki)
I’ve seen her on Peter White’s Christmas tour, with Rick Braun. She is magnificent, and a very proficient sax player. Hard to believe such music comes from such a petite woman. Thanks for the reminder.
Larry, thank you. I think she’s fantastic and agree, big sound from someone less than half the size of Clarence Clemons.

Wow! I love the saxophone. She is brilliant. Thanks for posting 🙂
Me too. She is. Thanks.
Some may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one!
Ahhhhhh, and Teela’s a poet too!
: )
I like the way she jams it up. Thanks for sharing.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Me too Francine. Thanks.

Smiling. She does ROCK.

Girlfriend is enjoying herself–loved it!!! (and I’m not typically a big jazz fan….) 🙂
Really? I had you pegged for Jazz…learned something today.
Nope, it’s a little too random for me somehow. I love blues, soul, soft rock, some country, classical, but jazz? Meh….
I guess were are closely aligned. I like selective “smooth jazz” which is not really jazz for the aficionados, right?!
Exactly! I’m right there with you, DK. For instance, I really like Joshua Redman (also a sax player), I like Vinx (not sure what you’d classify him as), Pink Martini (kind of jazzy, laid back), Taj Mahal, and Jonathan Butler. How’s that for a tasty weekend melange?!
YES. YES. YES. SIMPATICO.
🙂
Kills me now good she is and how accomplished, but unknown. She should be up there with Kenny G in name recognition. But–you know–she’s a GIRL.
Laughing. She is good.
Awesome! Something else to love about Florida 🙂
Ahhhhhh yes, you are so treading close to the line friend.
