  1. I am sorry for the pain involved, but I LOVED this post. By the way, there was a point in my life where I seriously considered using that Dorothy Parker quote as the message on my phone answering machine.

  2. I’m right there with ya, David. Front door was frozen shut this morning and garage door wouldn’t go up more than halfway. Put my key in the ignition and the starter came out real brave. Thuk…nah… Just an ordinary winter day in the northeast… 🙂 – J.

    1. Another ordinary winter day in the northeast….hmmmmm, I’d argue that it’s a few wee clicks lower on the thermometer, but who’s quibbling. Have a good week Jeff.

  3. -11 in Pittsburgh – coming your way !
    wind chill -27.
last year in cold – TX here I come.

  4. I am sorry to say that this hell is just fresh for you. This hell is drunk and has been staggering all over the country for over a week. Ask me about my frozen pipes. Wait, don’t! I am sick of it all!

  5. Popsicles here as well. Our temps dropped from a high of 53 yesterday afternoon to 12 last night. Gulp. I don’t mind snow, but these frigid temps could depart without so much as a murmur of protest from yours truly. Brrr….

  6. Well, with that sort of refrigeration,”very fresh” I would think. And to rub salt into our wounds (same conditions here in Bethesda) it is prime beach time back home … sigh.

  7. I had to look up the quote cuz I *need* it in my lexicon.
The thing about the cold snap is that it pulls us all together (not just for warmth). Disasters and Fringe Events can do that.

  8. minus 13…. Oh my God…. I can’t imagine… In here, it is warm and we are all ill because of this unseasonable weather… We need snow we need cold winter days…. But sure we haven’t experienced this kind of temparature in the past, I mean minus 13…. at least minus 1 or 4…. 🙂
