5:58 pm. Today.
| Rachel: | Hi Dad! |
| Dad: | GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS? |
| Rachel: | What? |
| Dad: | GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS? |
| Rachel: | DAD! Why are you yelling? |
| Dad: | GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS? |
| Rachel: | OK Dad. It’s Monday. What’s Up? |
| Dad: | You didn’t return my call last night. |
| Rachel: | I didn’t have time. I was busy studying for a big test. |
| Dad: | Really? |
| Rachel: | Really. |
| Dad: | GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS? |
| Rachel: | (Silence. She’s been at this show before. Boom coming down) |
| Dad: | Honey, today is PARENTS’ APPRECIATION DAY! |
| Rachel: | What? |
| Dad: | Yes. From 7pm to 10pm, you will appreciate your Parents. |
| Rachel: | (Silence. She’s not sure where this is going but she knows it’s a bad place.) |
| Dad: | I checked our bill during the time you were busy doing homework last night. |
| Dad: | Looks like you had plenty of time to send text messages to your friends. |
| Rachel: | (More silence) |
| Dad: | So, your cell service will be cut off from 7pm to 10pm. |
| Rachel: | OK Dad. |
| Dad: | Love you Honey. Can you hear me now? |

Good one dad!
Hit the sweet spot, right RoSy!?!
yes, it’s getting a bit clearer now….
Exactly. Crystal clear now.
I forgot…how old is Rachel? I’m just trying to get a picture of all of this. 🙂
1) Old enough to know better. 2) 21. 3) The rule is as long as you continue feeding at the trough, it’s Dad’s rules.
You are right…it just reminded me of a similar occurrence with my own daughter when she was a bit younger. She’s 24 now. She has her own phone plan now…and I’m glad. 🙂 And she still never calls me back until she feels like it.
Yep. I KNOW the feeling…
My maaan
Laughing. YOU know…
it’s not humpday, tomorrow I’ll listen to you.
OK, you are definitely getting it. 🙂
You could pretend to get old and frail and she’d check on you every evening. It works 🙂
I WOULD NOT hazard to try THAT approach. No Chance.
smiling. you love that Rachel, Dave. 🙂
Oh, yes I do.
You enjoyed that, didn’t you? …giddy gleefulness?
More than I care to admit. (:))
I enjoyed so much… you are amazing dear David, Thank you, love, nia
Laughing. Thanks Nia. Funny how all parents get too much pleasure out of this. 🙂
To pervert the bard ever so slightly…”He’ll hath no fury like a parent scorned.” And I’m sorry, pal, but I detected a little too much glee in that sentencing hearing…. 😉
Laughing. No glee whatsoever. Lori, 2 hours in, she was begging for service restoration.
That would be “hell” — damned autocorrect….
I did wonder. 🙂
Been there, done that – and yet, I was the one who felt awful. Typical.
Sorry Pal. We’re not aligned this time. I feel just fine. (Gleeful actually)
Wow, you are you tough! The question I have is did you stick to it?
Of Course. Now, ask me if it was worth spending 10 minutes on a chat line with AT&T reactivating it, NO.
Lol!
Hard parent, love it.
🙂
What? Really? There’s a parent appreciation day? Guess I should have called my parents. Oops …
Laurie, you have to keep up with the major holidays.
