Kiss the Rain

Yiruma is the stage name of Lee Ru-ma, a 34-year old internationally-acclaimed pianist and composer from South Korea.  He began playing the piano at the age of five and moved to London when he was eleven, in 1988, to study at The Purcell School of Music. He held dual citizenship, South Korean and British, until 2006, when he gave up his UK citizenship to serve in the South Korean Navy.  ‘Kiss the Rain’ is one of his most popular selections.”  Thank you Dr. Bill Wooten for introducing me to this performer.

Oh I’ve heard this piece. One of my students (also of Korean heritage) brought it in a couple of months ago and attempted to play it. So glad I was able to hear a GOOD performance of it – I had written it off based on a less-than-stellar student. My bad. It’s a beautiful piece – sensitively played. Thank you Dave.

  18. Absolutely one of my favorite modern piano music – thanks for sharing the new version. It is just delightful for any piano student to learn and play and also for anyone else to close her eyes and listen.

  19. David, he has released a three CD set that is amazing and has been consistently playing in our home since it’s arrival. I don’t usually recommend music as we all have such different taste but this is one to have. Be well my friend, Bill
