Piet Mondrian

piet mondrian

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) was a Dutch Painter.  Titles for works above: Amaryllis (1910), Compositie (1916), Composition No. 9 (Blue Façade) (1913-14).

Near the later years of his life, he produced some of his signature work (Below: Composition with Yellow, Blue, and Red, 1937–42) which “consisted of white ground, upon which was painted a grid of vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary colors.

    1. Yes, I often struggle to find exactly the right word to capture it…and you come to save the day (again). I landed on “signature.” No. It is “Iconic.” That’s it.

      1. Or, “I am irritated by my own writing. I am like a violinist whose ear is true, but whose fingers refuse to reproduce precisely the sound he hears within.”
