I’m not going to do it. It’s not a priority.

timeChange your language. Instead of saying "I don’t have time" try saying "it’s not a priority," and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: "I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority." "I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority." If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.

  7. Excellent point! I just had a discussion about that with my boyfriend last night about working out my priorities and lessening the time spent on things that hindered me in reaching whatever goal I had wanted to achieve that day..

  14. Hello David,

    Hope you are doing well.

I completely agree with you. You reminded me of a Quote, “If you think you CAN or you CAN’T, either way you are right”. Life is how we choose to make it because we can’t go on with life without shedding few tears or without having wonderful moments with our loved ones. Life is wonderful if you know how to LIVE it. 🙂

“Ich habe keine Zeit”, hört man oft. Genauer hingeschaut übersetzt man es wohl eher mit “It’s not a priority”. Toller Artikel.
