So damn cute!!
Yes!
Happy swimming little one!
Yes! The other Cygnet didn’t make it. And 2-3 other eggs didn’t hatch. So this baby yet another miracle!
🥲 Sad news… but I guess we don’t get to argue with Mother Nature. I hope this little one lives a joyful life!
Agree with all Paul. Thanks!
Oh so sad 😞…a miracle for sure
🙂
Such a sweet, poignant photo DK. The story of the others who didn’t make it, and then this one who did speak deeply to the mystery, wonder and delicate threads through which nature is woven into our lives.
And I wonder… is that common? That several eggs don’t hatch? And that only 1 cygnet from a possible bood of 6 – 7 makes it? Those are distressing odds!
Thanks Louise. Swans generally lay a clutch of 4 to 10 eggs https://birdfact.com/articles/swan-nesting. However, the number of eggs that survive varies. Cygnet (baby swan) mortality rates are around 50%, so it’s likely that around half of any brood will die https://birdfact.com/articles/swan-nesting
The prince (only child) out there soaking up all of Mom and Dad’s attention. Miracle. All of it.
Right!
Too bad about the others. I guess it’s too late to hope they still might hatch…. This little guy is really sweet.
yes Anneli. It is too late unfortunately. What’s the saying: “Love the one you got?” (Sublime) Or Love the one you’re with! (Stills)
The one you’re with. A close enough match for this family.
I just realized there is also a song for “Love the one you’ve got.” I’m a bit slow on the uptake this morning.
❤️☺️
Look, Ma. No feet.
Is this Bud? Rose Bud?
Sure is…
Baby steps
Yes!
