Can we just start?

Last night, in the middle of the night, I got up. I’d been awake all night. When it comes time to sleep, my body goes, “We’re not! We’re not!” Four hours of just tossing and turnin’ and dealing with an amorphous blob of stuff. Fear. Shame. Pain. The whole gamut of human emotions. I’m nearly 50. I’m a dad, dad of four, with a loving wife. It’s astounding what’s happened in my life. But, it feels as though the past has me in a headlock. Something else to give.

I am trying to sort out the wreckage of the past. And I’m picking a rather particular way to exorcise these demons right now. I’m a hermit. If I’m not on stage, I’m in bed… Can we just start?

  1. It must be so hard to look back, and cringe with pain…He was such an iconic rocker – with all the flash and sizzle and a reality that isn’t real at all. Four kids, loving wife and perhaps some guardrails to protect him from the chasm

  2. I don’t even know who Robbie Williams is. I don’t keep up with any form of celebrity (with the exception of tennis players, lol)… Actors, authors, amazing movies and television shows…even politics (too depressing)… I don’t even try to keep up. And I’m horrible with remembering names and titles… I’m lucky if I can remember the name, Robin Williams, or Meryl Streep, or Stephen King! You get the idea…

So this post meant very little to me… Until I watched the trailer… And then it was like a punch in the stomach. Clearly, this man is/was an amazing entertainer (I don’t even know whether to use past or present tense because I don’t know anything about him). BUT THAT TRAILER… Clearly there’s an amazing and gut wrenching story here. Now it is absolutely on my list of things to watch! Thanks Dave 🙂

  3. Robbie!! My man!! And Inspiration for the post disco era!! Glad he found some stability and family. He was such a showman. Interesting to see if the trailer reveals the authentic guy without external validation.
