T.G.I.F. Wanna be here, now.

Photo by Geraint Smith Photography: “This week, my favorite cottonwood tree in all the state, and random black and whites on the road in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. I think the colors on this cottonwood peaked this morning (Oct 24, 2023). I never tire of seeing it whenever I commute to or from Taos, in all seasons.” (Thank you Beth)

        1. Aha! I was wondering where you lived Sawsan (for no particular reason, I wonder that about everyone…) I’m betting on Chicago based on this post :-). I recall you mentioning a time when you needed to “get away for a while” (I need to do that). Funny how the mind works… I’ve always pictured you in Europe, or the Middle East (with Caleb!). Happy weekend!

          1. Chicago has been home for 20 years.
Montreal / Canada for 15 years before that.
Originally from the Middle East, Caleb is a blood relative. I left the Middle East when I was 18.

          2. I’m there in MontrĆ©al frequently. My parents and siblings still all live there. MontrĆ©al is Home as well.

    1. How lovely! I only know them in that song, ….listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees… Is that from “Don’t fence me In”?

      1. So … how do we do a road trip … or virtual equivalent. The internet creates a sense of connection with anonymity … and then we feel connection to others and share more.
We find ourselves as part of a community and feel a real connection.
Perhaps gathering for cottonwoods, or something else in nature would be something to consider.
…and notice how the heart responds and then the analytical mind. šŸ˜Ž

  1. My first impulse has been to share this immediately with my grand daughter whose favorite color has always been yellow. I wrote to her, BEAUTY must be shared.
    Thank you for this gift…

  2. My instant reply was to forward this photo to my grand daughter whose favorite color has always been yellow. I wrote, BEAUTY must be shared.

Anyone hear that song, “…listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees…” I think the song was, “Don’t Fence Me In” hmm…”give me land, lots of land with the starry skies above” Very appealing.

  3. Well, from past comment you all know that I love trees! Going up the hill a few days ago, I noticed that some of the forest -a lot is for sale-My breath stopped, thinking of my favorite, magnificent old growth Douglas tree- I’m not sure if it is included in the sale of the lot or if it is adjacent…I pray it will be spared…and then I think ha, maybe in this lending climate maybe no one what to buy a lot and build on it

    >>>Now, to address your Fabulous share! Stunning, photo!!! I clicked the link of Geraint Smith Photography and enjoyed his, stunning photography!!! Then I became involved in the rabbit trial of discovery of some other nature photographers…such beauty, abounds!

    >>>We have Maples, Aspens, a Cottonwood , Apple trees, a Plum and an Italian Prune Plum tree. The Cottonwood trees that I’ve seen are cylindrical so it was amazing to see a nice squat, round yellow blazing CW… I googled and found this to share of the CW’s shape I’m familiar with…also a stunning photo from Jackson Hole area of Wyoming (I love Wyoming) Hope you and your readers enjoy this photo too!!! My area and Idaho, Montana & North Dakota have towering Cottonwood trees along the river banks…
