August is a month of contradiction and schadenfreude…

Schadenfreude. Love that word.

There was a show on B’way years ago called Avenue Q. There’s a song just about schadenfreude, as well as a bunch other songs that would be considered taboo – but it’s funny and relatable nonetheless

Do feel like the world is on the bullet train these days, in more ways than one. Hard to catch your breath sometimes. Worry about the kiddos heading back to school.

What’s your mask – Vax requirements at VU?
Loading...
all students, faculty, and staff who are going to be on campus need to be vaccinated, unless you are given an exception. it is then up to each teacher to decide is they want students to wear a mask in the classroom. at this point, I am not requiqung masks. Any visitors to campus need to wear a mask when inside a building…
seems like a reasonable approach…
is your company requiring vaccinations?
Loading...
In NY Metro yes. In Phoenix yes. In TX no. But masks required.

I can’t wait for this to be over…

I’m afraid we have a bit of a ways to go.

unfortunately, I think you’re right…

It’s Sally, not Lucy…

As I have listened to parents through the summer it’s easy to hear the fear and confusion in them as school is close. Summer was a break without mask most of the time because the parents were the guides for their children. Now they face someone else being the guide. It’s scary when another power takes the authority over your child. Hitler said, give me your youth and we know how that went. Are the parents right to fear…yes I think so.

Panic in FloriDUH already!! School started 2 weeks ago!!

As a former teacher, I resent the negative attitude that is so often presented in the media and in jokes/cartoons. The reality is that the majority of kids are happy to go back to school. Their excitement is palpable. During Covid, we constantly hear kids complaining about not being able to go to school and about how much they hate Zoom classes. It would be great to see positive support in the media for education.

It’s amazing how the town quiets down once the kids are back in school. “Ahhhhhhhh…,” she sighs.
