I am trying to teach my mind
to bear the long, slow growth
of the fields, and to sing
of its passing while it waits.
The farm must be made a form,
endlessly bringing together
heaven and earth, light
and rain building back again
the shapes and actions of the ground.
~ Wendell Berry, from “From The Crest” in “Quest for Place. The Poetry of Gary Snyder and Wendell Berry.”

- Post Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”
I’d like to teach my mind to shut up as it bears the long, slow growth so that I may slumber as it waits ..

Wow, that photo takes me back to vistas of my childhood. Something so soothing about a vast, rich swath of land…

I bet it did. Wouldn’t have expected it to be so green and lush. Southern Illinois right?

Wendell Berry’s words “bringing together heaven and earth, light and rain building” replenishing the cycle, the rhythm of seasons, teaching us of yielding patience …and what growth comes from yielding…both externally as well as internally…///the photo is beautiful, plentiful…and I think of what I’ve seen on this summer’s Saturday morning “USA Farm Report” the heartbreaking loss, of drought upon the land…and what I see locally scorched earth, water issues and I am thankful to see the above photo as I know beauty, vibrancy & bounty will return…
