All gods are homemade,
and it is we who pull their strings,
and so,
give them the power to pull ours.

Oh my. How serendipity. I just wrote to a group I’m part of about ‘god’ and how, not using a capital ‘g’ still sent fissures of unease through my body (I was raised Catholic – the capital ‘g’ is mandatory). and then I wrote, “I don’t want to describe ‘what or who is god’ because that word still carries the angst and fears of a child who feared that the sin she was supposedly born with would tarnish her life forever.
For me, that is the greatest mystery of all. How humankind could be so convinced we needed saving from our true nature it devised a way to keep us from seeing the beauty and magnificence of our true selves.”
Thank you for your photo and Huxley’s quote David. I am smiling and feeling… light.

Interesting that I had some of the same thoughts, but then I thought he was only referring only to the manmade gods with a small “g” and not the creator God with a capital “g!”

Let us agree to forcefully disagree….
broody scene, matches the flammability of Huxley’s words perfectly. Are you pulling his quotes out of context?
