When we choose growth over perfection, we immediately increase our shame resilience. Improvement is a far more realistic goal than perfection. Merely letting go of unattainable goals makes us less susceptible to shame. When we believe “we must be this” we ignore who or what we actually are, our capacity and our limitations. We start from the image of perfection, and of course, from perfection there is nowhere to go but down.

This is so true, and so hard to do at times, but so freeing when we do so

Love Brene…she makes me feel like the impossible is worth a shot. I love her honesty and resilience. She isn’t afraid to admit she screws up, too, and doesn’t have all the answers, yet she keeps putting it out there. Love that….

I wish I could celebrate Canadian & US Thanksgiving, and have turkey and pumpkin pie for both celebrations! Happy Thanksgiving Hedy!

Actually early years growing up it wasn’t a Dutch tradition…but with time it became a day in a life…but actually I’ve never liked pumpkin pie or turkey☺️and I assumed with your maple leaf icon that you were/are Canadian…perhaps, dual or global 🤓 anyways I do like brussel spouts now 😁and I’m thankful daily…have a peaceful day wherever you are.

We so often set goals that are plain impossible. We mean well, want well, and yet often cannot meet our own finish line. Be good to yourself and let it go. Set new ones. Don’t judge yourself if you can’t meet the impossible ones you set for yourself.
