If I have me, what else do I need?

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

That often times I just sit in silence. Sometimes I don’t like to talk. Sometimes I have nothing to say.

What’s the one thing you hope to see change in the world?

For people to stop seeing society as a zero-sum game. We’ve convinced ourselves that in order for one person to win, another has to lose.

What’s the one thing you would grab from your house (after family members and pets) if it caught fire?

I don’t have children. So it would be weird for me to be grabbing children in a fire. Where did they come from? My photos are in the cloud. I wonder if I’d grab anything. To be honest, I don’t think I would. I mean, if I have me, what else do I need?

  3. Interesting how he took the question about family members and took it so literally.
I would grab my iPhone and charger and my purse. Can’t imagine surviving without them these days.

  4. I love his answer to that last question — and like Val, I’d grab my phone — yet, I see his point. Things can be replaced.

Two years ago, my daughter and then 8-month-old son fled their 1st floor apartment because of a fire on the top floor (4th). She grabbed, her son, a diaper and her phone. At the time, she couldn’t believe she didn’t grab the whole diaper bag and maybe a blanket for the baby. Friends, neighbours, strangers arrived with everything people needed as they stood outside and watched the fire consume a vast swath of the 4th floor – no lives were lost, but many were changed.

  6. He (and Stephen Colbert) are the ‘go to’ for me when I want to know about What Goes On in the US…. I can only stand it because of their very different but totally honest & super funny approach. Noah calls his show Social Distancing Show, Colbert A (not The) Late Show – both are brilliant and especially Trevor with his background, upbringing and his incredible brilliance bring home the truth in a comedic way. I, tough, as much as I admire him, can understand that he is no longer in his long-term relationship; he has outed himself as a man who is best alone…. as many comedians are. He often said in his first few ‘from home’ shows that he is lacking nothing, not the human company, not the going out, not the dressing up, and that to him, staying home alone is a blessing. One cannot imagine that when you hear him on stage. He is a true conundrum.
Tks for this post; I love talking about those two heroes 🙂

  7. I meant to give you the link to the reading (done in 2 sessions of some 3.5hrs each) but sadly it must have been taken down – couldn’t find the book read by him – you may however buy it on audible…. and get the first book for free…. sorry about that.
