My philosophy is: It’s none of my business what people say of me, and think of me. I am what I am, and I do what I do. I expect nothing, and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

A lesson for us all!
Yes, there is…
such a wonderful and simple philosophy and such a challenging way for many of us to live.
Yes, and striving every day to do so against considerable headwinds…
How do you get to that level of clarity and “centered ness,” that’s what I want to know….
And many of us want to join you in that Quest.
The skeptic in me loves this quote and longs to embrace such a philosophy, yet ponders this brilliant actor’s success with this philosophy given his battles with alcohol and depression. Yet, if in fact he’s got it now, then I am super-happy. I used to have a little plaque that said “blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed”
It makes complete sense to me that a recovering alcoholic and sufferer of clinical depression should come to this understanding. Clearly, he’s done his work—hard, soul-work—because this is what recovery looks like. He’s my hero.
I don’t disagree…
Nor do I…
I didn’t realize he battled both. Interesting perspective he brings then…
Such wise words. I suspect getting to this level of understanding and acceptance is a life long journey. I’m not quite there yet…….
And, certainly nor am I. 🙂
Reblogged this on Bright, shiny objects… and commented:
I am what I am — ego sum qui sum! Love that…
Thanks for sharing Todd
He’s sure a great actor.
He is…
Wise words to live by.
They are Janet…
Didn’t Popeye the sailor man said that?
Something like that Perpetua:
” I yam what I yam and I yam what I yam that I yam / And I got a lotta muscle and I only gots one eye / And I’ll never hurt nobodys and I’ll never tell a lie / Top to me bottom and me bottom to me top / That’s the way it is ’til the day that I drop, what am I? / I yam what I yam.”
See… he got it all from Popeye… 😆
Wow, nice leap pal. 🙂
Do you might if I hijack this post and quote your comment 😛
Of course not. Do your thing
Oh Popeye, you are my hero… says Olive. 😛
Funny!
Brilliant man. I love him.
He is, me too.
I’ve always liked him…
Me too Susan. So authentic and passionate.
Love.
Me too!
I love his acting and this philosophy – did you hear the symphony he composed?
No Marianne. I did not.
