Note to Self / Note from Simba:
Break the Chain.
Break the Circle of (work) Life.
Take a new route to work.
Invite a colleague to breakfast.
Schedule 5 minute breaks.
Whisper Good Enough.
Then let it go.
Let your emails pile up.
Just let them go.
Take a walk.
Leave your smartphone behind.
Steal 10 minutes to read.
Try Human.
Call a friend.
Try gratitude.
Send a thank you note.
Interrupt the pace.
No. STOP.
Stop the frenzy.
Push your chair away from your desk.
Pause.
Slow.It.Down.
Close your eyes.
Drift.
You are now walking barefoot.
Surf and sand rushing between your toes.
Breathe.
Inhale.
Deeply.
Say the words:
Peace be with you.
Today.
Break the chain.
Do it.
Do one thing.
Do Something.
Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think.
Circle of Life (Lion King)
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless roundIt’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

ah, but did he fly off the wheel from absolute exhaustion, or choose to jump off of his own volition to live life more fully?
Now, that is the question.
He flew off to the new adventures…. 🙂 Actually how poor one, should have crashed or fell down badly and should have been dizzy too…. This is interesting we take a philosophical touches from this… and my mind jumps to the Seagull by Bach 🙂 Thank you dear David, I enjoyed. Love, nia
Ahhhh, that is a great “mind jump” Nia. Thank you. And thank you for sharing Bach.
Will you let us know how today goes? Even if you only do one or two of these things (for it doesn’t surprise me that you would challenge yourself with suggestions like ‘let your emails pile up’ – somehow the idea makes my heart beat faster) – it will be a better day with the chain broken. Peace be with you David…and gratitude for who you are.
Thank you Mimi. Work to do. Did 1 thing. But it was big thing. Off email most of the day.
Yep. Slow. It. Down……never a truer word spoken.
Yes…
Shouldn’t, but I laughed when s/he went flying. Because it’s me.
Laughed too. It is permissible. It’s so me too Lynne.
Curious physics lesson … wheel somehow switches direction when the “hamster” flies off. That goes to prove that anything is possible after all …including you slowing down.
I didn’t notice that. Amazing. Great catch…and love the insight. SMART.
This all kind of reminds me of the poem I posted yesterday “Be Where You Are.” Yes, David,
“Just be where you are
with your breath in and out
and the beauty in front of eyes that see.
With potential in your hands reaching out
and your heart open again to this mystery.”
Thank you for this post… 🙂
Love the poem Carol. Thanks for sharing.
First steps to personal liberty, David.
Yes, Alex, it is. Thank you.
Rescue me from this cage, Dave!
Rescue ME from this cage Perpetua. It’s a desperate cry for help! 🙂
pure deliciousness. i feel liberated. i will try as many of these as i can this week!
Me too. That’s a great idea. Since I didn’t get them done yesterday, stretch the goal over the week. Here I go again dragging myself down with ambitious goal setting. 🙂
Akunamatada!
That’s right Sheri! No worries, be happy!
Will David “Slow.It.Down” in this life? Makes me think! Besides, you wouldn’t be consistent if you ever tried to “Let your emails pile up”. I have my doubts.
Oh, and I have my doubts too Sonia. (:))
