Patrick Watson is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal, Quebec.
There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills…
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust…
This is a place where I don’t feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home…
And I built a home
for you
for me
Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed it’s knees
By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held on me
Held on as tightly as you held on me…
And I built a home
for you
for me
A nice, gentle way to start the weekend. I hadn’t heard of Patrick before. Thank you for the introduction!
Nor had I, and I’m a Canadian. Shameful I know.
Dave, I like the song – it’s mellow, relaxing, hypnotic, that minimalist style I can see you like. I do too. Not wild about the singer himself, who I assume wrote the piece. And the piano teacher in me is telling him to sit up straight and put both his feet on the floor. Nice music, though.
Thanks LaDona. I didn’t realize that I like a minimalist style but now that you point it out, you are right. Glad you enjoyed it. Cut the poor man some slack on the slumping. 🙂
David,
When we are on the right track we give up no slack as we happily kick back.
As least where I come from.

Like him and the song! Reminds me a little of Dave Matthews.
Yes, some similarities here.
Never heard of him until now..I agree with your sister – a bit reminiscent of Dave Matthews (who I love)…I love the lyrics (especially having read that Rachel is home – it seems the perfect song for Friday).
He’s my brother (Lorne)…and I’m with you Mimi, love the lyrics.
Oops…Sorry Lorne!!! How come no one told me this until after I inserted my foot in my mouth more than a couple of times? Sigh..
Equivalent to rubbernecking with car accidents – you just have to look and watch.
Thank you David, love this!!
How can 2 Canadians not have come across this 5+ year old clip. Shameful!
Wonderful song — thanks for sharing it, Dave. Shall I admit I’m unfamiliar with Patrick Watson, too? Guess I’ve been away from Canada for too long.
Yes, you and me both Sandy…
