  1. I also read that sitting was the next epidemic after smoking to damage our health and well being.
So … don’t get addicted to sugar or sitting!
    The alternatives seem to be:
    1. Reverting to old established addictions. Maybe they will bring happiness this time around!
    2. A life of going without the things you enjoy and a self imposed grueling exercise regime. Embracing Puritan ethics with gusto! You will be rewarded with a long miserable life and solitude.
    3. Becoming mindful of moving often and making healthy eating choices.

  2. I went gluten free 2 and 1/2 weeks ago..that alone has limited my access to Sugary carbs, bread, regular flour pancake and pasta – though I did have a 3/4 slice of gluten free cheese cake with black berries on top for my birthday treat, yesterday. I have found a gluten free choc.chip cookie that is palatable. Sugary, Caramel is gluten free, while licorice is not ! I am making great strides in reduction of sugar intake 🙂 Ketchup consumption is non-negotiable! I don’t drink anything other than water, for years and I don’t eat chips or crackers. For me, It is an all out break up of excessive sugar consumption. I am happy with my blood sugar results..

  3. I know you can make progress!!! Yesterday my blood sugar was down a dramatic 72 pts from 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. Its been interesting to watch it drop every day. A week of good blood sugar goals and Two days of more than reasonable blood sugar. My doctor added a new oral and I didn’t bother to fill the rx as I knew it wasn’t good for my liver. So I went to a bio-Chemist (recommend by my Physical Therapist who works with runners & coaches runners) who looked over my blood work and will work with me for a few months to get me where I need to be for the rest of my life. I added 1200 units of Vit D 3, too (600 in the am and 600 in the pm) & some bile salts Standard Process ‘Cholacol’ to break down fats as I have no gall bladder. (1 or 2 before each meal) Once a day 1 tsp of bio available liquid B vitamins. I did eat some gluten free crackers on the trip, split a choc.malt at an old time soda fountain at a drug store in Big Timber, MT and shared a few H Daaz bars. Veg feed eggs. grassfed meat and fish are gluten free. .I’ve decided to sip on unsweetened homemade herbal and green tea today as we’re still under a heat advisory for this last week of vacation. I find I can still have one lower carb treat a day, (a small cookie or one regular size Resse P. Butter cup, sometimes split in two) has to do with the timing and I follow it with some protein to balance. For years I’ve tried to eat mostly whole foods. Rice pasta is pretty good. Fried chicken in cornmeal, white corn tortilla (instead of whole wheat or flour) for sandwiches or tacos. A spoonful of Noosa Strawb/Rhubarb yoghurt curbs the desire for high sugar treat, or one Starburst square. If I eat that yoghurt I only eat 1/3 to 1/2 at one time during a day because of the sugar content. There are options…and I am wiling to give them an earnest try because I don’t want to lose my eyesight or my leg. Life is meant to be lived, fully in Joy. I am fairly Joyful and grateful to begin with but increasing Joy is always a good thing…
