I didn’t know if there was anything like a God. I didn’t care. But it was mostly clear to me we were not just castaways in some tohubohu bearing an ensign of meaning only for those desperate enough to concoct one: I felt mostly certain more was going on than met the eye—despite not having a real clue just what that “more” might entail. My assuredness on these matters owed less to faith than it did to experience, for I’d been hearing echoes of the uncanny since early childhood.

An amazing quote, David. A perfect word “more” and that that entails for each one of us.❤️

I like how you have your God conversations on Sundays.
Some photos summon back a state. This one summons the state of being half awake and half asleep, still dreaming. The clouds and water like eye lids slightly open, peeking outside.
So beautiful!

Smiling. After 9 years, there does become more than a single pattern. And you don’t miss much. 🙂 Thank you. Beautiful description of the photo, I felt what you described, but couldn’t put it so beautifully into words as you have.

Patterns are all over the universe, inspite of the apparent chaos. Patterns are a sign of excellence. Of something bigger. And only because it’s Sunday ill say, “Patters are possibly a sign of God!”

This is a great thread. Especially ‘half awake and half asleep, still dreaming’. Through all of my writing during this Advent, my focus has been on what is means to stay awake and dream at the same time. David, I know that it why your photos have stirred me so. Today’s image is deep in the dream-state.
Thank you!

My feelings described pretty much.
And I am so glad you chose this picture from this morning’s collection.

Me too Dale. Thank you. The photo seemed to provide the appropriate backdrop to Mr. Akhtar’s words.

I loved this book – and ironically highlighted this passage. Uncanny.😉

“echoes of the uncanny”
Your photo is full of echoes. Like voices in a dark cavern calling out for light, they awaken the mystical and the uncanny as if to say, “Hello. God. Are you listening?”
And in response, the light breaks through the darkness.

There is always ‘SOURCE’ … “But it was mostly clear to me we were not just castaways in some tohubohu bearing an ensign of meaning only for those desperate enough to concoct one: I felt mostly certain more was going on than met the eye—despite not having a real clue just what that “more” might entail. ”

That’s a great photo, DK. Very nice. It doesn’t always have to be sunshine to be a good photo, does it!?

Agree Anneli. In fact, I prefer partially sunny days. Clouds add so much context and spin off amazing light.

I, too, am drawn to the clouds. You have captured the penumbra…seemingly a gateway between the fading night and approaching day…so beautifully pal, and have illustrated that elusive sense of ‘more’ exquisitely. Moved….

“Penumbra” – like who but You would know that! I didn’t even know there was a word for what I see each morning. Ill never forget it now.
