Jacana Prime Time…With the floods arriving on the Chobe River fields of waterlilies and other water plants are forming, the nesting grounds for the African Jacana. Some of the males are still incubating the eggs while others have their hands or feathers full with looking after the chicks. Incredibly funny and extraordinary…. thanks for the smile (I did figure it out…. am very proud of myself!)

Legs aside, I’m still trying to work out how in the heck he keeps all those little types tucked up in there. What the heck are they doin’, swinging from a feather? Amazing photo, pal.

Whenever the 3.5 yr old toggles the fellow insane toddler in the 2 middle kids — screaming, racing, crashing, thumping and knocking frames off the walls x 3 — I will come back to this photo and think, “Things could be worse!” How amusing it is! ❤

I’ve seen quail do this but not actually walking, just kind of standing there brooding the chicks. They have found amazing ways of solving ordinary problems. I’ve never seen one of these jacanas but they have interesting design.
