Opening day at Costco’s Shanghai store, its first in China, on Tuesday; many shoppers were there for good prices on familiar U.S. brands. The crush forced Costco to shut its doors just after 1 p.m., eight hours earlier than scheduled. A phalanx of police and security guards blocked people from entering, and some were still trying to get in as a light rain began falling at dusk. (There was a) two hour traffic snarl near the store before midday. Other shoppers said they encountered elbowing for sale items, long checkout lines and a 20-minute wait for the toilet. Looks like the stock market
Ha!
I’m not sure what to say, David. In fact, I think my head shaking will suffice. Cher xo
Cher, I had claustrophobia just looking at the pic!
I can certainly see why!!!
Because really, who doesn’t love a bargain? :-O
Truth!
Costco seems a bit more popular than Trump…and Xi Jingping….Workers, hum…Buyers of every country unite!…:D
Laughing. TRUTH!
Long live capitalism!
Yes! Long Live Costco!
Oh my goodness.
Oh my Madness!
I will never understand these rushes for deals – you will NEVER see me at a Black Friday doohickey and this looks just awful.
Laughing.
And I go to Costco 15 minutes before it closes, to ensure there is no pushing and shoving 😉
…and dragging your swollen feet with you…
So, that actually means that lately, I am avoiding it completely!!
Yes!
I like costco, but I don’t like going there!
Makes total sense!
My attention deficiency kicks in, it skyrockets!!! And my heart rate goes up.
Luckily Esam is a Costco addict. His idea of a date is costco and a $500 bill.
Laughing!!!!!!
Not funny, DK. Not funny.
OMG! I’m so glad I wasn’t there!
Laughing. I was heaving just looking at the photo.
Insane! And the elbows over the sale items! Shameful and horrifying, and oh so low and disgusting..
Yep. Madness.
Yesterday, my dear hubby spoke about this and said that there are 50 check out lines & they were 30 carts deep…/// I haven’t looked up the Costco stock price for ages $295.00, nice I bought some at $26.00…and for some reason I never bought anymore wish I would have bought some every month…for a few years, darn.
Smiling. We all wish that. You aren’t alone.
The young boy screaming in the picture says it all! 😬 With the deep restrictions they face each day, I’m not surprised they flocked to experience what millions of Westerners take for granted. Our freedom.,✈️
Ha! Some freedom. 😄
More than them!! I saw it first hand! 😔
Well then, Bravo Karen. You are free as a bird now!
I really did feel that after leaving Shanghai. I am much more grateful. 🙏🏻
I bet..
Can you imagine what the free food sample carts must have been like?
OMG. Overrun. Never thought of that.
we got one some years ago. never was there, never bought my card, and seeing this (you can’t unsee it once you’ve seen it – several times today!) I’m glad I never went in there. Nothing to ‘like’.
Smiling. I get it.
Not a store I have ever visited
Well, you have seen many greater and worthwhile things. I’m sure of it.
Black Friday in the States…
Truth!
