The pieces that I chose were based on one thing only
— a gasp of DELIGHT.
Isn’t that the only way to curate a life?
TO live among things that
make you gasp with delight?
~ Maira Kalman, My Favorite Things
My Favorite Things is a new book by Maira Kalman that was released on Amazon yesterday. “The book is a beautiful pictorial and narrative exploration of the significance of objects in our lives, drawn from her personal artifacts, recollections, and selections from the collection of the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. She is the author of the bestsellers The Principles of Uncertainty and The Elements of Style.”

I would love to be friends with Maira! And I have got to get myself to that exhibit at the Cooper-Hewitt opening this month. Sounds like such fun! Thx for the heads up, pal!

Yes, unfortunately that road trip isn’t in the cards. I did take a peek at the Smithsonian’s intro. Looks like it will be great.

ah, so true. and i agree with this completely. years ago, my sister in law spent the weekend at my house and upon leaving said, ‘your house is little, but it is obvious that every little thing you have in it, is something that you love and is special to you in some way.’ she was exactly right.

I love this. The only thing that I do which is a little bit similar is keep a scrapbook to be given to my kids someday…one page has a flower photo that I love and the next page has a poem that I love. It’s a paper version of my blog…but only the best parts of it. My kids will know those parts of me someday. 🙂

That’s great Carol. And just so I’m clear, you select the “best” part of your blog for your children, and you unload the entire enchilada on us? Do I have it right?
