Christmas Tree?

There was some debate in our household over what I saw in this photograph. No, debate isn’t the right choice of words. I was mocked. What do you see here?

          1. Maybe the boy is actually NOT looking at the tree…but walking away…in sheer exasperation what with the creepy person with the flashlight, the abundance of paper birds on the tree, and the framed pumpkin picture on the wall.

          2. David, if you would add the tag “creepy” to your posts…it won’t take as long to find them next time. That woman, yikes! She must be the one at the top of the staircase with the flashlight. 🙂

          3. OK, you got into my head with the “creepy woman” comment so I went searching for the old post. Don’t ask me how long it took to find it. (Way too long). I know you missed seeing her. Here she is at this link:

  1. There’s no Santa. No not in, general, only there’s no Santa in the picture. I do see the little boy looking tree and it kind of looks like he’s standing on fire because of the shiny floor reflecting the lights.

  3. This “thing” is actually looking at us making us foolish. Too funny, Dave. The more I look at it, the weirder my thoughts become. I better not have a nightmare, tonight.

  4. I can see the birds… and also someone at the stairs but not clear… and a lovely photograph with this little boy…. Actually there is not any gift package under the tree 🙂 But what I see in the tree, in the light, (on the left side) a cat yes, much more seems like a cat… not a dog… I can see her paws/legs and eyes… 🙂 Can you see dear David?
Thank you, Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday, love, nia

  5. Each takes their own meaning from the objects in the world around them. I see only a boy in front of a Christmas tree, but the lack of presents under the tree might infer something.

    1. Yes, so true Alex. I had seen the same (lack of presents under the tree) and the boy’s shoulders slumped like he was sad. This photo and the various comments above remind me a quote I came across on Steve Layman’s Blog that I thought was apropos here:

“Still photographs are the most powerful weapon in the world. People believe them, but photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths.”
