Would test the endurance of an ardent Buddhist.
Laughing. It certainly would.

The first time I was in Shanghai – before the huge economic appeal of investing there – the ride from the airport was treacherous because of bicycles, buses with burned-out windows and a relatively small passel of cars. The last time I was there (ten years later), the traffic was almost as bad as it is in Beijing. Obviously, not every rush hour is eleven days long, but I had never seen traffic like it before.
Must have been quite a sight, and push to get home quickly.
I don’t think there is any ‘get home quickly’ there at the moment. The roads just can’t accommodate what development hath wrought.
I bet.
glad I live in a country with not that many people
Yes, and fresh air and clean running water.
those are good things too
I thought they had a ‘one-child’ policy. Maybe they should have a ‘one-car’ policy.
I think they are well under 1-car policy. Sheer numbers overwhelming.
11 days?! Now that’s gonna get you there late!
Just a wee bit. 🙂
Only in China that do everything in excess. Glad I don’t live there.
Big. In a big way. Just look at that highway.
thank you for the perspective jolt )
🙂 Jolt to look around what we have with gratitude!
Yikes … no more complaints here about the long walk from my kitchen to my home office.
Ahhhhh, rub it in Laurie.
Unreal. Glad we live here.
YES!
Love this! Makes you want to be happy all day 🙂
Certainly does!
Wow!! And I thought a 60-mile commute into Boston yesterday that took me two hours was a pain. I stand corrected….
WAY corrected!
wow, never seen anything like it! That makes our little problems seem very unimportant!!
Crazy, right Jenny!
Makes our rush hours seem like no traffic at all,
You!? Do you even have a rush hour in your parts?
Well…mini rush hours (or maybe just half hours).
🙂

Thanks for sharing John
Just crazy!!!
It is!
How bizarre – I discovered this picture only a few days ago on some Google search for something or another – HORRIFIC! 😯 How did they all cope with that, where did they go to the toilet, and what about water? I wonder if anyone died in that – I mean, eleven days, the world is getting quite crazy!! 🙁
I never even thought about that (bathroom, water). It is sad…
Its horrible, and we complain of traffic jams in India.
Yes, it’s all relative, isn’t it. Horrible traffic.
