To express feelings that can’t be expressed in words

A Winged Victory for the Sullen is the name of an ambient music duo consisting of Dustin O’Halloran and Adam Wiltzie. They met backstage in 2007 in Bologna, Italy, and agreed to form the duo. They are based in Brussels.

The intro runs to 1.35 min of this video and then is followed by a selection of their music: Steep Hills of Vicodin Tears.

Stick with this to the finish.

Find this tune on their album on iTunes or Amazon. Their site can be found on Facebook.

Pianists’ Live Improv

I’ve featured Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm previously on separate posts titled: Near Light and Said & Done.  Now the two solo artists come together to create a new song live in front of an intimate audience at Roter Salon, Volksbühne Berlin.  The musicians test/practise with the new equipment up to the ~ 2:20 mark on the video and the improvision starts from there.

Genius. And Magic.

Sunday Morning: Balmorhea

Balmorhea (pronounced Bal-moor-ay) is a minimalist instrumental ensemble from Austin, Texas, that was formed in 2006.  I have had their latest album Stranger playing on a loop on Sundays for the past month.  Relaxing.  Soothing.   Working magic on Sunday mornings.

Good Sunday Morning.
