Later, when I was in the Argentine, I used to tell myself that I could not die until I had seen another month of May, here in the mountains. The grass grows knee-high in the meadows and down the centre of the roads between the wheel ruts. If you are with a friend, you walk down the road with the grass between you. In the forest the late beech leaves come out, the greenest leaves in the world. The cows are let out of the stable for the first time. They leap, kick with their hind legs, turn in circles, jump like goats. The month itself is like a homecoming.

There are hues of green that leave one’s energy sapped – as summer ends and the green is so very tired of being green. And then there is the celebration of green as it greets the arrival of spring. The colors above capture that newness, and if I was a cow, I’d kick up my heels like a goat…as it is I’ll be a sloth and toast this post with another sip of coffee..

It sure it light there at that hour. It’s around 5:30 CST time and it’s very dark out.

Sunrise here now is ~5:30 am. (Not today though, still raining, and has been for hours.)

Mimi’s comment wins the day…😂 These greens are ebullient, effusive, enthralling, enriching…in short, just flat out gorgeous!

I’m a great lover of natural greens, all hues, all greens, and one little highlight of my day was, when visiting the beautiful Ile Mainau (Germany) I walked through the Palm Garden, an inside paradise and I was right there when they added their gigantuesque orchid exhibition, those glorious blooms were hanging, standing, decorating all those trees, the sets of music hall instruments (orchids growing seemingly out of the lid of an old, old piano, etc.)…. A ‘coffee and cake’ coffee shop was set up amongst those palms, wicker tables and chairs – it was worth the steep entry fee just alone there…. I’m wearing a long two-green-tone linen dress right now, writing this!
