5/24/41…
After all that, the change … was like the sudden, unwelcome awakening from a glorious dream. An awakening on a Monday morning when, with one’s castle and clouds and the silver sea dissolved into a sordid room, one realizes that one has to get up and dress in the cold night in a few minutes and plod through a weary day.

You did better than me. The rain is coming down hard and the wind is gusty.
So? Another good suggestion of a book?

1000 pages. I would say I’m not ready to recommend (as I’m like 40 pages in)

Oh Lordy! And yet you’ve already quoted her twice .. interesting.
I used to not be intimidated by 1000 pages. Now? Oy!

You’re not intimidated by a 1000 page book, though 🙂

The Talented Mr. Ripley was a good movie, and I suppose to write the book about it must have taken a certain talent, but from what I’ve read about Patricia Highsmith, I think our personalities would probably clash (and I don’t clash with many people). Nice swan though!

Yes. She’s quite a character. I’m about 1/15 into the book. She has no shortage of opinions.

One may infer from this passage that her “weary day” involved working for others (/others’ pockets), indoors!

Love seeing a swan…what a Monday morning greeting for you! I wondered about the “graying” and looked it up: Trumpeter juveniles have gray feathers on the head and neck persisting well into spring. Wintering Trumpeter juveniles may vary in age by up to 6 weeks due to … My youngest son’s birthday today…so grateful…(he’s graying too!)

Well… it would have been a dreary opening to the day except your swan lifted the dreary into beauty! Thanks for the restful stillness.
