You have to love a nation…

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”

  1. this does not really make sense to me. Patriotism is definitely not tanks and military might but it is more than over eating at a family picnic. A day to celebrate freedom and commit to being sure that freedom is not granted selectively.

      1. Australia Day celebrations fall each year, David, on the 26th Jan. We also get a ‘public holiday’ as well. Being our summertime lots of people enjoy the outdoors on this day; more so than any other!
