As a Black American these are time that are collectively for us are filled with anger, disgust, fear and sadness to name a few emotions. It is hard to look at the legalized lynching of a human being that who was casually dehumanized. Black Americans are invisible to most of
White American until times like this. For those of who have been successful in career, please know that a day does not go by when we do not experience racism in some form. Often we are told to not be so sensitive and forget about it. Probably none of you have had “The Talk” with your child about what to do if you encounter the police. I worry for my son who lives in the South every day. We are having a national dialogue abut race and racism but please know that solving the racism practiced against Black people is not our problem to solve. The change must begin with White America. Time to stop talking and start to take concrete action.

Dave, thanks! I just saw in the Times this morning. I have been getting these communications from former colleagues at Citi and current in higher education. We have 400+ years of learned behavior to change, but we must take action Now. No more pushing the puck down the ice for an icing call. Yes, I am from Minnesota and played hockey.
I get my ‘fill’ of info about your country mostly thanks to Stephen Colbert and John Oliver. I read a lot of newspapers, newsletters and this heartbreaking and gut-wrenching event made me so sad, despondent and angry too. The last few days, Colbert had some wonderful ppl of colour as guests and it made me deeply aware of HOW MUCH GOODNESS IS STILL THERE TOO. America does have many, many, countless many wonderful, honest and mindful people of all colours, denominations, opinions. Let us hope and pray that the death of Mr Floyd wasn’t in vain – and that FINALLY things will be changing.
So sad to see that my response to Robert never went through… I am reaching out to everyone to see the PBS special 2 hour documentary, “Reconstruction: American History after the Civil War”–it’s actually replaying right now. It is written and narrated by Skip Gates and spoon-feeds our history in brilliant and excruciating detail. To make changes we have to know what has to be confronted before it can be changed. On our way to bring more love into all lives…
