      1. Awww, man. I am sorry that the weather is so crappy, but so glad that you have Sully with you this week. ☺️ And interesting that breeders are shut down. Hmmm. What breed are you looking for…have you decided?

        1. Actually from the inside, it’s sunny out, blossoms in full bloom. But that wind, wow, bone chilling.
As to breed, I leaned in on rat terrier, which was dismissed, as apparently that will require us to build a fence as electronic fences won’t contain this determined breed. So…it may be back to Viszla. And I haven’t received any buy-in from the Boss yet. 😦

          1. The good news…a spring snow never lingers. With respect to Vizslas, have you looked into breed rescue?

Doesn’t look like they have any dogs available right now, but it might be worth a conversation/getting on the waiting list if it were something you were interested in exploring. Would be a great way to get a dog and save a life. ☺️

          2. Aww, thx Kiki. Just would love to see Dave have another dog. And DK, that’s a really good thought..have you looked into Weimaraners? Would be a great walking/running companion…they are high energy.

          3. Lori, not a boxer, please. As lovely as they are, you can’t ask Susan to wipe off his spittle all day long and clean all windows 3 times a day. We mustn’t scare her!!!

          4. Dave, you were thinking rat terrier because of the rats in your garden? 😉
They are hunter dogs and LOVE digging and burrying in any hole in the ground….. be prepared to pay hard money for calling the fireman to dig him out of impossibly small openings or bends in underground pipes. You speak with somebody with much experience!

  1. Reblogged this on It Is What It Is and commented:
Wow!!! Brrr … “a blast of arctic air and snow is headed for the Northeast this weekend. The cold snap will interrupt a spell of spring weather that had been something of a salve and had driven people out of their homes to golf courses and parks.”

  2. Love that peeking out from beneath the covers look! It’s a beautiful sunny day here — there are predictions of snow here for tomorrow! I mean, really?

but, I will take the sun. It is so inviting. And, there’s no wind. I’m off to the park with Beaumont — Sheepadoodles are a wonderfully goofy and loyal breed. Beau makes our hearts smile every single day. He’s also incredibly smart! Oh. did I mention stubborn? yeah well. that too. 🙂

Have a joyfully warm weekend… inside.

  3. I, for one, am glad it is too cold for you to be tempted to go out there…nine days in a row of running deserves a break, yanno? Cuccooning – I know, we’ve been at it for more than long enough – but sometimes it’s just nice. No work to do, snuggle with a loved one on the couch and watch movies…
It’s sunny and bloody cold here, too (so glad it is not a running day) and they are calling for flurries this afternoon. Enough already!

  4. …and if we spend more time in quarantine, a dog would be your chance to get out…
My yard has just become home to a ground hog! Back to The Wind In The Willows and The Hollow Tree and Deep Woods (Albert Bigelow Paine), my favorite, and of course Mr. Rat who ventured to Connecticut!

  5. My prediction was correct…for you, you had too coldof weather and didn’t get to see the geese family (sorry you didn’t get to see the Geese family) and
wrong for myself…yesterday it was 83! ugh frost the day before and then heat wave…I like the temp to be between 55 and 72…82 is my upper limit…I start to get cranky when it approaches 82 (our daughter has Heat Intolerance too) her temp set point is even lower than mine!…suppose to cool down and rain for us starting tomorrow 🙂 Since you are Grandpa mode with puppy sitting that means Rachel has gotten out of the NYC Zone, yeah!

You have seen the movie “Father Goose” ? one of my favorites I swoon over Carey Grant…

“Will it be too cold to go visit the geese over the weekend…Dear Hubby said the Northeast is suppose to have a May Snow!!! A rare Polar Vortex… We had frost again this morning and tomorrow in low 80’s, hmm we’ll see about it being in the low 80’s here tomorrow, I am doubtful…”

  6. Yeah, I was hoping you’d go out later in the day or early evening to watch the geese family.
Yes, 83 yesterday with frost the morning before…the normal temps and rain are returning!
You should check out the movie “Father Goose” and have you seen this movie :

Fly Away Home, I so recommend the movie…starting so many beautiful Geese and well known actors…

  7. We’ve just had a heatwave on the UK’s sunshine coast. It has finally broken today (May 10), with high winds, cooler air, and the odd spot of rain, but I actually have a suntan and all my plants are about a month ahead of usual. At the moment I have many plants in flower, including roses, flag irises, peonies, and geraniums! Also have quite a number of promising looking vegetable seedlings. Now all I need is a sudden frost. My dog has been doing loads of sunbathing, in between supervising my gardening efforts! Not much writing getting done by me, though.
