“Thinking about daylight and artificial light I have to admit that daylight, the light on things, is so moving to me that I feel it almost as a spiritual quality. When the sun comes up in the morning – which I always find so marvelous, absolutely fantastic the way it comes back every morning – and casts its light on things, it doesn’t feel as if it quite belongs in this world. I don’t understand light. It gives me the feeling there’s something beyond me, something beyond all understanding.”

There is a certain time of the morning and afternoon where the light here renders the greens silvery as the sun glissens on the leaves and the spider’s web, and you know the world is brand new again.

I have fallen in love with the quality of the light here in Florida, particularly the afternoon light, which comes to rest like a benediction in late afternoon. The sun bathes the landscape in this shimmering liquid gold that absolutely stops me in my tracks. Every time I see it, I marvel anew. Love this pairing of word and image, DK.

““Because in February the days were really getting longer and you could see it, if you really looked. You could see how at the end of each day the world seemed cracked open and the extra light made its way across the stark trees and promised. It promised, that light, and what a thing that was.”

Didn’t read this book. Katrina Kenison posted this yesterday.

I’m so glad my window looks east into the sun-rising. It’s so splendid to see the morning coming up over those long hills and glowing through those sharp fir tops. It’s new every morning, and I feel as if I washed my very soul in that bath of earliest sunshine.

Light is quite a mystery (for us): corpuscle and wave, material and immaterial at the same time. That’s it on the intellectual level, emotionally we are always moved by light.
Interesting your picture, it’s kind of ambivalent.
