This is the bleached-bone veritas of the Colorado Plateau. We stand on the edge of an erosional landscape looking out. The curvature of the Earth becomes our home range. The silence before us is time. We feel how small we are in the embrace of geologic relief… Watching light captured and held within the pastel pinnacles of Bryce Canyon in shades of pink, orange, and yellow—all these weathered places show us we are merely humans, soft, humble, and temporary.

Wow!!! Lo devo inserire nella lista dei posti da vedere. Ho una lista molto ricca ed una vita non basta. Yo make me dream 🙂

O my dear God – this is ‘unreal’…. I’ve never seen or heard of this region and it’s vastness and desolate dryness made my mouth go desert-dry and my heart beating wildly. I don’t want to know whether by the sheer beauty of these giants or a daunting feeling of irrefutable loss! Have you had a look through this photographer’s other shots? He is amazing and his Flickr account doesn’t tell anything about him but his shots are beyond words.

Such an otherworldly or maybe very “world”ly place! It is said that these red rock areas are the only parts of North America that were above sea level many millions of years ago. [cf. Edgar Cayce]. I gave a several day workshop in Moab years ago. Unforgettable.

Thanks for posting from this book. I read a rather terse and not particularly complimentary book review on it, but I’m liking what I’ve read here David.
