“Rain on roof outside window, gray light, deep covers and warm blankets. Rain and nip of autumn in air; nostalgia.”
~ Sylvia Plath, from a journal entry featured in “The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath”

We’ve just had days and days or wind and rain, but it is so “not snow or blizzard.”

Well, not tropical, but sometimes like paradise. Vancouver Island.

That is what is being called for tomorrow. Unfortunately, as there is an event, there is no way I will be called to stay home and “cocoon”…
But boy do I love those days…

I LOVE the rain, it always feels like God is re-booting the world. There’s a hypnotic magnetism to the pattern. When I look for something to override my constant carnival of thought, this is the number one catalyst that helps quiet an overloaded mind. Meditation does not come easy to me, but this is my savior when I too need a re-boot.

With cooler Fall temps and darker awakening to the new day coupled with rain on one’s window pane makes for a more arduous morning rise.

Not much nostalgia for me today – rucksack, handbag, red suitcase heavy with all the electronics and some stuff, rain, drizzle, cold, a dangerously under-climatised high speed train (but alas, a coffee/tea/drinks trolley doing great business to all those freezing passengers), too tired to care, a far too talkative seat-neighbour ranting for four hours about the ‘bad, bad French’ (why the hell is she then taking a trip to Paris and return a day later?), passengers parking their holiday-home-sized-baggages on one’s feet, a small boy with a scooter, an adult daughter with two huge suitcases and a Zimmer frame for her mother, neither of them finding a slot to store away….. two unusable toilettes (one stuffed with stuff, the other flooded, both stinking)!
BUT finally coming back to a wam house, being ‘chez soi’ and now going to bed, thankful for ‘for once’ having escaped strikes, disasters, accidents, delays or/+ cancelled transports 😉

Shame. I can’t think of Euro Trains anymore without thinking of the State of the Toilets. Bah!

Sorry to cut your appetite; it does it to me too, every single time – but the SNCF don’t seem to mind – they don’t even react to complaints any more.

Sad, really. It’s all sliding down, down, down. Reminds me of:
Things aren’t right,” she said. “The world is spinning out of control.”

It’s a total loss of Taking care of everything, humans, goods, feelings. Yep, things aren’t right and have spun out of control quite some time ago.

Today brought me straight home to Scotland. I actually enjoyed the breeze and raindrops….. not so much the driving this evening though!
Nostalgia has its place 💛
