I remember, I remember … I closed my eyes. Eyelids are really just flesh curtains. Your eyes are always “on,” always looking; when you close them, you’re watching the thin, veined skin of your inner eyelid rather than staring out at the world. It’s not a comforting thought. In fact, if I thought about it for long enough, I’d probably want to pluck out my own eyes, to stop looking, to stop seeing all the time. The things I’ve seen cannot be unseen. The things I’ve done cannot be undone.

Sounds like she needs a nudge to “move on.”

Or resting your eyelids. Eyes are always watching.

Truth, nothing can be unseen or undone! And just like the eye lids are only flesh curtains, so is the body, flesh curtain for the soul. The soul never stops…

But some nights mine goes places. It leaves me alone and goes all over the world. Which is probably why I sleep well.

We cannot ever unsee or undo and that’s how it should be.
The curtains just allow us to rest occasionally.

This is actuelly one of my continuing thought processes. I often think about what my closed eyes see. Being an insomniac, I’ve got plenty of time for these kinds of games.
And, btw, this book is on my waiting list (like) forever…. now even more!
